Tamanna, the ‘numero uno’ heroine of Tamil cinema celebrates her 20th birthday today (December 21). It has been the year of Tamanna with an impressive track record at the box-office.
Her progress report for 2009 shows a blockbuster Ayan, a super hit Padikkathavan, a hit Kanden Kadhalai and a flop Ananda Thandavam. For someone who is not remotely associated with the glamour industry, Tamanna has adapted well to Kollywood.
Remember last year (2008) she had no releases. And this year she has walked away with the crown in her hand leaving behind a bevy of big names like Nayanthara, Trisha and Shriya far behind.
She has everything going her way- the right looks, is a mix of glamour and girl-next-door, attitude, is a complete professional, disciplined and above all has made the right choice of films. At the moment the Sindhi girl from Lokhandwala in Andheri, Mumbai is the highest paid actress in Tamil cinema.
Tamanna has also a very impressive line up ready for 2010. Her first release will be Paiyya with Karthi in February, followed by Thilalangadi where she is cast opposite Jayam Ravi in April. In June , she has the biggest of them all Sura, Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s prestigious 50th film.
Another big film for her will be when she repeats her hit combination with Dhanush in an untitled film to be directed by Hari. She has also signed up a big Telugu film opposite a top young hero.
Tammu told : “ I don’t take success too seriously. I’ll be focussed and dedicated to whatever I do, to the best of my ability. Beyond that nothing is in my control. I thank God for all the blessings showered on me. I will be celebrating the day on the sets of Sura today and a quiet dinner with my family”.
We wish Tamanna a very Happy Birthday
