Prabhu Deva to remake Ghilli with Abhishek!

It is almost confirmed that Prabhu Deva will be doing his next Hindi film with AB Corp, the company of the Bachchans.

The buzz is that it will be a remake of Vijay's Ghilli, which itself was a remake of Mahesh Babu's Okkadu from Telugu.

Prabhu Deva confirmed that he had met Abhishek Bachchan a few days back and narrated the story, which junior Bachchan loved.

He told ,“I did meet Abhishek in Mumbai and narrated the story which he liked. My next film in Hindi will be with him some time in mid 2010, after I complete my Tamil film with Jayam Ravi.”

Right now, Prabhu Deva is in US looking for a heroine for the Tamil film. He will be starting his next untitled film in Paris, with most likely a new face as the heroine.

Designer Sidney’s grand birthday bash

 

Chennai's top designer, Sidney Sladen, held a big bash at Taj Coromandel on November 21 to celebrate his birthday. A theme party, the guests had to be dressed like royalty from the Tudor period of British history.

While Sidney came dressed as King Henry VIII, Trisha was Queen Mary. Ajith and his wife Shalini, who never attends parties, made an exception for Sidney and came dressed in Tudor clothing.

Gauthami is back now!

Gauthami is back in business and this time she has chosen the small screen to exhibit her acting talent. The lady will be donning the greasepaint for the mega serial titled Abirami that will be aired in Kalaignar TV.

The inaugural function of Abirami took place at the Abirami Mega Mall in Chennai. Kamal Haasan was the chief guest at the event. Others present were the Producer’s Council president Rama Narayanan, FEFSI chief VC Guhanathan, the Small Screen Actors’ Association president Kushboo and Abirami Ramanathan.

Genelia starring with Dhanush

The box office success of the Telugu film Ready has brought back Genelia to Kollywood. Yes, the lady will be starring opposite Dhanush in the Tamil remake of Ready. According to Genelia, it is a privilege to star in the remake film, especially if it happens to be one’s own film. The actress says that it is not a monotonous performance as many of her contemporaries in the film industry consider.

Ready, which was released a year ago, had Ram playing the lead role. The film was directed by Sreenu Vytla and produced by Sravanti Ravikishore.

Prabhu Deva’s next heroine is SHruti Hassan

There have been reports floating in Kollywood that Prabhu Deva has titled his next project with Jayam Ravi as Ich. While reports do not confirm any news about who would play the heroine in the film, there are strong rumors that Shruti Haasan is in the race and may have signed up for the role.

Prabhu Deva has already begun the groundwork for Ich and has flown to the US to scout for suitable locations. Sources aver that a major part of Ich will be shot in the US.

Tamanna preparing Christmas cake

Hotel Green Park has begun the Christmas celebrations in style. The hotel organized the cake mixing ceremony on November 21st in which noted actress Tamanna donned the chef’s cap much to the delight of those present at the venue. Chopped raisins, almonds, pista, walnuts, blackcurrants, dates, cashews and cherries were mixed with spices and assorted spirits to bring out a range of cakes and puddings during the Christmas season.

The in-house guests and staff also took part in the cake mixing with gusto and gaiety. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Krishnakumar Menon, Sr. General Manager and Chef Amsa Raju.

Vijay's Vettaikaran gets bigger!

on Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s X’mas release Sun Pictures Vettaikaran is getting bigger in the trade.

The audio of the film which has music by Vijay Antony is slowly climbing up the charts and is now in the number two position.

The first clips of scenes from the film are out in the promos of the special programme on the film’s audio launch to be telecast on Sun TV.

It looks like to be another typical Vijay mass masala which his fans are sure to lap up.

Meanwhile the trade is abuzz that Vettaikaran overseas rights has been snapped up by a Singapore based new player in global Tamil film distribution for a whopping amount.

Remember Vijay has the largest overseas market after the two veteran superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan?

Now one of the biggest attractions for Vijay fans is the huge vinyl hoarding that has come up at Sathyam Cinemas car park in Chennai (see pic).

Once the promotion of the film starts on Sun Network from December, Vettaikaran will become an event by itself.
